Travel with Me–Wine and Walking in Portugal

Small group travel hosted by Ilse!

Porto, Portugal

This trip truly has it all: Traveling internationally with a loved one–or 3!; letting someone else (me!) take care of all the logistics; staying in 4* and 5* accommodations; wine tasting in the UNESCO Douro Valley of Portugal; and breathing in the fresh air of autumn, as we walk the terraced vineyards!

Portugal has been making wine for centuries, with some estimates placing the first planting of vines as far back as 2000 BC. The Basto and Douro regions are perhaps the best known, and not only offer rich landscapes, but rich history as well.

This walking tour starts in atmospheric Porto and continues a voyage of taste and discovery through the UNESCO World Heritage Douro Valley, where the famous port wines are produced. We also take in the region known as Terras de Basto where Portugal’s ‘young’ wine – vinho verde – is produced. Leisurely walks and cultural visits provide the perfect rejuvenating getaway before the crazy holiday season!
